I just met a very good friend of mine after almost two years. Meeting her was such a wonderful experience and I can only remember us talking and talking about so many things altogether. Obviously, when two girls meet, there's bound be lots of gossip on love, relationship and men and we did just that :p We realized that in the two years that we weren't in touch, our attitude towards life and on many other aspects had definitely broadened. Life teaches you a hell lot and all that is depicted by the way we think and understands about things around us.
When we got to talking about relationships and commitment, there was this mutual understanding that relationships are necessary but not at the cost of sacrifice. Similarly, ones' career and independence is very important and there doesn't seem to be any possibility of a compromise on that. My friend even added that nowadays, the girls are commitment phobic whereas the guys are totally for it. And this is not just with regards to a relationship or marriage, but even when kids are concerned. Children mean responsibility and couples nowadays are a little skeptical of taking up this responsibility. They would rather enjoy and spend time with each other and consider it after maybe 7-8 years.
Another funny aspect was our attitude towards the choice of life partners. Gone are the days when we dreamt of fairytale weddings or our perfect guy. Now as long the guy is decent and responsible enough, shares similar thoughts and views on life and is not a freak in any way is all that matters.lol. The focus is more towards compatibility and understanding rather than perfection or money. There were many other topics we discussed and the more we talked, the more we realized that life itself teaches you that practicality is the best way to live.
While thinking about our conversations later, it just striked me that everything changes so fast... the world around, your life, family, friends and with that your mindset and attitude too. It's so funny na that we are so easily willing to compromise on our dreams just to catch up on everything in just one life. Nobody has time to wait for the perfect guy, nobody has time to raise a kid or adjust with a new family. And that's right in some way coz its upto you to decide what makes you happy and to choose a life in which you are most comfortable in. Afterall, one life is all we've got na...:)
